Technique: Many layers of encaustic with plaster and shellac burn with heating tools. Different pigments were mixed with shellac. The text was layered, which are computer-programming languages (codes) in an abstract form that are astronomical calculation algorithms, which correlate with the stars, universe, and our lives. It is archival pigment ink that was transferred onto encaustic. I layer memories, thoughts, dreams, paths, maps, realities, illusions, and disillusions. I also layer timeless messages in the text as I mentioned. I am interested and would feel awe from vast nature to tiny details, from science and math to supernatural power simultaneously.
‘Disillusioned’ means to be disappointed in someone or something that one discovers to be less good than one had believed. Or you believe something, but when you realize that was just an illusion.
Illusions typically don’t last forever, but rather disappear. The work depicts human emotions. Although things in life may not last, we still hope good things last as long as possible.
Life on earth is limited and is like a mist. We feel nostalgia when triggered by sceneries, landscapes, artworks, words, or surrounding environments. We cherish memories and sometimes may long for someone or something we do not or cannot have. Visual works, imagery, or words—even without knowing the details—often affect how we think and live. Provoking or generating these emotions is one of my roles as an artist.
